A Bracknell Muay Thai fighter meets an opponent from Greece in London on 8 November, and is asking businesses in the town to sponsor the fight.

A professional Muay Thai fighter from Bracknell is due in the ring in London on 8 November, against an opponent from Greece, and is asking businesses in the town to put their name behind the fight.

Izzi, who trains and coaches in Fleet and posts as @fit.izz_ on Instagram, wrote to Bracknell Online on Tuesday 22 September looking for local sponsors. The email is the source for everything below, and the words are quoted as they were sent.

The fighter, in their own words

“I’m Izzi, a local professional Muay Thai kick-boxer from Bracknell, training and coaching in Fleet. I’m currently the WMO International Champion and ranked

8 in the WMO world rankings.”

“I have an upcoming fight on 8 November in London, where I’ll be competing against an international opponent from Greece.”

The WMO title and the world ranking are the fighter’s own account. We have not seen a sanctioning body’s published ranking list or a result sheet, and the email does not name the venue, the promotion or the opponent, so at this stage the date and the city are all that is fixed for anyone hoping to watch. Photographs from the gym and from fight nights, including the belts above and a referee raising the winner’s arm after a bout, were sent to us on Thursday 24 September.

What is being asked for

“As a local athlete, I’d love the opportunity to represent and work alongside businesses from Bracknell and the surrounding area as I continue competing professionally.”

“I’ve put together a short sponsorship proposal with a little more about me, my upcoming fight and some of the ways we could work together. If this is something you might be interested in, I’d love to send it over.”

That proposal has not been sent to us, so we cannot say what a sponsor would be asked for or what would come back: kit, corner branding, social posts or something else. A business that wants to see it has to ask.
